About This Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Syntony Institute Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website.
It explains:
- what cookies are;
- why we use them;
- which cookies are necessary for the website to work;
- which optional technologies require your consent; and
- how you can manage or withdraw your choices.
For information about how we collect and use personal information more generally, please see our Privacy Policy.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your device when you visit a website.
Websites can also use similar technologies, such as local storage, pixels or other identifiers, to remember settings or understand how visitors use a website.
Some technologies are necessary for a website to operate correctly. Others, such as certain analytics or advertising technologies, are optional.
How We Use Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for purposes including:
- operating the website;
- maintaining security and essential functionality;
- remembering your cookie preferences; and
- where you have chosen to allow it, understanding how visitors use the website so that we can improve it.
We do not activate optional cookies that require consent until you have made the relevant choice.
Cookie Categories
Strictly Necessary
These technologies are required for essential website functionality, security or to remember the cookie choices you have made.
They may operate without optional cookie consent because the website cannot provide the relevant functionality without them.
Strictly necessary technologies cannot be disabled through our Cookie Settings where they are genuinely required for the service you have requested.
Analytics
Analytics technologies help us understand how visitors use the Syntony Institute website, such as which pages are visited and how people navigate the site.
Where consent is required, analytics technologies remain disabled until you choose to allow them.
We currently use Google Analytics 4 where analytics consent has been provided.
Preferences / Functionality
These technologies may be used to remember choices or provide enhanced website functionality.
If we use optional functionality technologies that require consent, they will remain disabled until you choose to allow them.
Marketing / Advertising
Marketing technologies may be used to understand the effectiveness of advertising or deliver advertising based on website activity.
Syntony Institute does not currently use marketing or advertising cookies on this website.
If this changes in the future, any technologies requiring consent must remain disabled until the visitor actively chooses to allow them, and this Cookie Policy must be updated accordingly.
Cookies and Technologies We Use
The following cookies and similar technologies are currently used on the Syntony Institute website.
| Cookie or technology | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| syntony_cookie_consent | Syntony Institute | Stores your cookie consent choices (which categories you have allowed or rejected) | Strictly Necessary | Persistent (browser local storage — remains until you clear your browser storage) |
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 (Google) | Distinguishes unique visitors for analytics | Analytics | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_GCYXGHDL2ZH | Google Analytics 4 (Google) | Maintains session state for the GA4 measurement | Analytics | Up to 2 years |
Google Analytics 4 only loads after you have given analytics consent. No analytics cookies are set before consent.
Google Analytics
Where enabled, we use Google Analytics 4 to help us understand how visitors use our website.
Analytics is optional.
Google Analytics must not be activated on the Syntony Institute website until the visitor has provided the relevant analytics consent.
Visitors who reject optional cookies should still be able to use the website normally.
More information about how Google uses cookies and data is available in Google's privacy information.
Your Cookie Choices
When you first visit the website, you can choose:
- Accept optional cookies
- Reject optional cookies
- Manage preferences
You do not have to accept optional cookies to use the Syntony Institute website.
Where consent is required, optional cookies will remain inactive unless and until you choose to allow them.
The Dutch Data Protection Authority states that tracking-cookie consent must be obtained before those cookies are placed and that accepting and refusing must be genuine, equally accessible choices.
Managing Your Preferences
You can choose which categories of optional cookies you wish to allow through .
The preference centre shows:
- Strictly Necessary — Always active where genuinely necessary.
- Analytics — ON or OFF according to the visitor's current choice.
- Preferences / Functionality — ON or OFF according to the visitor's current choice where applicable.
- Marketing / Advertising — ON or OFF according to the visitor's current choice where applicable.
All optional categories are OFF by default before consent has been provided. No optional categories are pre-selected.
Changing or Withdrawing Consent
You can change your cookie choices at any time.
Select in the footer of any page to reopen the cookie preference centre.
You can then:
- allow an optional category;
- withdraw consent for an optional category;
- reject all optional cookies; or
- update your preferences.
Withdrawing consent must be as straightforward as providing it. The Dutch Data Protection Authority specifically states that people must be able to withdraw consent at any time and that withdrawal should be as easy as giving consent.
When consent is withdrawn, we stop future use of the relevant optional technologies and update the stored consent choice appropriately.
Browser Settings
Most web browsers also allow you to view, block or delete cookies through their settings.
However, you do not need to change your browser settings simply to reject Syntony Institute's optional cookies. You can manage these directly using on our website.
Blocking technologies that are strictly necessary may affect some website functionality.

We may update this Cookie Policy when:
- the technologies used on our website change;
- our service providers change;
- our use of analytics or other technologies changes; or
- legal or regulatory requirements change.
When we make material changes, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page.
